Three weeks away from my 33rd Birthday and my heart is filled with humble gratitude for this life I’ve been able to live and experience. As I look at all the people I’ve been able to become, represent— how I’ve been able to consistently give up who I’ve been for who I can become. It is no small feat to dream up a life and for that life to be a work of art woven in celebration into the culture you belong to. To be yourself, to feature that self and for it to be your come up is the essence of clout. . As I enter into the 10th year of DBQ Magazine @DBQMAG I am hungrier than ever to showcase, explore, and celebrate the black queer experience as it is the passion rioting in my bones. . I live, even now, with baited breath for the man I am yet to become, the person you know not of, that is itching — yearning to be experienced fully in this world.
