I always loved opening @interviewmag and finding an @indochinenyc ad. A downtown institution putting a print ad in a downtown institution. Last year I stumbled on an old campaign for Windows on the World called “Confessions of a Jaded New Yorker” that they used to run in New York Magazine. It had such a distinct tone and voice that immediately reminded me why I love New York and love being in the restaurant business. Because most days we just go to work and try to keep the machine running. But seeing these ads during the middle of a pandemic, when everything was shut down, made me remember what restaurants mean to New Yorkers’ lives and their memories and their sense of nostalgia. So we made our own version and it’s out this month in Interview and it makes me wistful and happy and excited to create places that people actually come to, and have fun in, and will tell their kids about some day.
