I was literally just thinking how well guinea-pigging through our line was going, but you have to keep focused and respect the terrain as it can change your entire life in an instant... and of course your hopes of winning the competition. When it goes right it usually looks and feels easy, but things can change unexpectedly. We roll together and ride as a team. After over 20 years of riding together, I have never seen @kylestrait motionless; honestly, it crossed my mind that he was dead as I was running down to him. One of the three broken vertebrae was crushed in this crash, as he laid motionless on the edge of another 7 foot wall with a completely vulnerable spinal cord. After it went bad, it went really well. And it can always be worse. I wanted to quit. After lunch we had only 4 hours til dark, then finals. Our line wasn’t working, so the former Oakley Sender, aka Big Gulp, wasn’t possible with the speed I had. I tried to make it work with another line and almost broke my legs trying our 50 foot “Evel Knievel” set up jump. After giving it everything I had, we had to put the line to rest, as well as my goal of winning, and find another line. It could always be worse. Keep charging, stay hard, or whatever, just do your best and enjoy the ride 👊 Massive get well soon to the big guy!
