The great Italian oddball Giovanni Segantini died on this day, September 28, in 1899. This fantastic painting of his, “The Angry Mothers”, hangs in the Belvedere in Vienna, which I did not have occasion to visit this time around (this is a picture shot in 2016), what with my visiting 24 galleries in a row over a frantic two day stretch courtesy of the fine folk behind @curatedby.at 🔥 It seems fitting to post this memorial aboard the night train to Milan, where Segantini trained at the Brera Academy.
