I have truthfully had so many mixed feelings about this project and releasing it—I almost didn’t..mostly because it shows other sides of who I am that you might judge if you didn’t know me. We also live in this new world where we have to carefully curate and choose what to share or not share— that definitely has me overthinking sometimes about what parts of myself the world gets to see. But at the end of the day it still feels important to continue sharing my creative work and the many versions of who I was, who I am today and who I’m becoming. I worked on this mixtape for the bulk of 2020, the first year of the pandemic and it speaks heavily to where I was at that time. A little unraveled, a little raw, longing for dance and physical touch, entertaining and connecting with my (younger) self, angsty, sad, angry, all of it. I made songs with my friends to pass the time and I think it helped us all cope with the moment—I feel really grateful that we held eachother in this way. Two years later and I am in a much different space and experimenting with more of my sound. I’m taking my time with my craft right now and I’m excited for my evolution as an artist. I’ve also been having fun writing for/supporting other artists in their projects. I have a lot more to write and more to say. For now I hope these songs reach whomever they are meant to touch.
