Erdmann, 2002, by John Bock, a film made in tandem with his performance presented at Documenta 11 in 2002 in Kassel, has been re-animated in Italy at the Fondazione Morra Greco. Literally “man of the earth,” the artist emerges from the depths of the earth. Equipped with a hand-held camera projected live, the audience follows the scene as if in an endoscopy. Underground, the artist engages in a theater of adventures and dialogues with sculpture characters made of wood, fabric, and found objects with organic features that inhabit the earth's bowels. He re-emerges by passing through a claustrophobic tunnel that connects the hut to the skeleton of a car. Last chance to view: Bock's Erdmann is included in the exhibition Keep on Movin’ at @fondazionemorragreco through November 30, 2022. Pictured: 1, 2) John Bock, Erdmann, 2002/2022, mixed media installation on shelf, DVD, variable dimensions, originally shown at @museumabteiberg 3) installation view of Keep On Movin’, group show at Fondazione Morra Greco, Naples, September 29 – November 30, 2022 © Maurizio Esposito, courtesy Morra Greco Collection. #johnbock @quasijohnbock #fondazionemorragrecco #antonkerngallery
