Yoga starts here. With the breath.
Meditation doesn’t have to look like this (red light not necessary) and it’s okay to have distractions (hubby came home around the 3:30” mark rummaging through the kitchen and Mango 🐱 (around 4’ish mark) kept fidgeting with the cable of my red light lamp 😅). It’s all about creating your peace within. We cannot control our surroundings, but we can control how we respond to our surroundings.
If you’d like to start your own meditation practice, find some stillness however you’d like (sitting/standing/laying, etc), wherever you’d like (house, car, outside), for however long you’d like (start with 5min at first). Soften in whatever shape you’ve landed in, maybe close the eyes, and focus on your breath.
Mindful breathing = mindful movement/response. You learn to respond as opposed to react.
Let your mind wander wherever it would like to go and simply observe your thoughts without any judgment or attachment. All is welcome. Let it guide you towards your healing. And embrace yourself with all the love, grace, and compassion you can muster.
This was a snippet of a 20min meditation. And it had all its obstacles - hubby & pet distractions, restless legs, tummy rumbles, impatience, guilt of not being productive, Sunday scaries, you name it. I tried to find every excuse to finish early but I’m proud for sticking it through. Working towards my goal of meditating for at least 1 hour. Wish me luck. 😅
