From @nsnaturetrust — Yesterday Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Dartmouth to announce that the federal government has created a new $300-million fund to help Atlantic Canada recover from the effects of post-tropical storm Fiona. This visit to Nova Scotia and welcome announcement in support of protecting our coastlines reminded us of a much earlier visit here in 2006 when he helped us announce our first acquisition of land in the 100 Wild Islands. During his visit, he kayaked along Shelter Cove with the Nature Trust’s executive director Bonnie Sutherland, where he experienced firsthand the incredible natural treasure that is the 100 Wild Islands. Our conservation work in this area has continued since then, as we have now protected over 85% of this archipelago. One of the last islands that remain unprotected is Little Charles – a rare 24-acre ecologically diverse and significant gem. We have until November 4 to raise the remaining funds to protect Little Charles Island. Visit nsnt.ca to find out how you can help. Photos by Jeff Amos, 2006. #NovaScotia #Nature #100wildislands
