Today is World NET Cancer Day. That stands for Neuroendocrine Tumor. What I’m currently still at war with is called Pheochromocytoma which is in the NET family. The point of today is to help bring awareness to this kind of cancer. It is so rare that it’s usually never on the checklist of the symptoms it gives you, so originally the life-threatening high blood pressure I had was only thought to be caused by stress or diet. Not the 8 inch tumor growing from my adrenal gland. The goal of today is to bring more awareness to these tumors so that NET’s can be higher on the list of reasons for the side effects they cause. So they don’t kill the person before the discovery. The chances of having one are very rare but still should be considered. Truthfully most people I meet have never even heard of Pheochromocytoma! Which is scary when you’re with people from the medical field. I was lucky enough to have been saved by my amazing Endocrinologist who happened to be a specialist in this disease, plus my oncologist and surgeons. Also the amazing nurses at the hospitals here in Tennessee. Thanks to God for putting you all in my path. Everyone out there fighting this cancer or any others. My prayers and love are with you.
