The prize of freedom is before her - but what will it take to reach it? šŸ’™šŸ’™šŸ’™šŸ’™ āœ’ļø Who doesn't love a good fantasy based around Greek Mythology? This is one of those books that proves why fantasy is such a spectacular genre. You always get a good feel for a book by its prologue and this is no exception, a subtle yet powerful opening. I'd definitely say the pacing of this book is slow, but progressive. However, when they reach the underworld the book really comes into its own, bringing to life a spectacular world. Each area travelled, every creature encounter is written with such amazing description I felt immersed in their surroundings. Deina is the perfect protagonists and with this being a YA title she's the type of character that could inspire young minds, especially those of young girls. Powerful, strong, defiant.. yet still showing a sense of vulnerability. There's a great array of characters all possessing distinctive personalities, however I feel Nat was definitely the one I was most drawn to. His demeanour was a little more guarded than others; he's the character I'm hoping to learn more about in the sequel. Overall. Brilliant read that could definitely be enjoyed by even the lower end of the YA scale. Progression and setting of scenes created the perfect atmospheric base for the story to shine. I did find some parts to be a little predictable, however there's enough unexpected turns and intrigue to keep you hooked.
