I was recently asked for my thoughts on the Blake Lively situation, and some of my comments appeared on FoxNews.com, Yahoo.com, and AOL.com. First off I want to extend my gratitude to my team @otterpr for making this opportunity happen. And a big thank you to Christina Dugan Ramirez for having me be a part of her amazing and insightful piece.
I thought it was important for me to also add my thoughts that didn’t make the articles. Intimacy on set is a very difficult and sensitive matter. What I also mentioned, which didn't make it into the article, is that if my scene partner is uncomfortable in any way, I will not proceed unless everything is worked out and everyone feels comfortable.
Typically, there is an intimacy coordinator on set who acts as a liaison between the actors and the director's vision. This role is crucial in ensuring that all parties feel safe and respected. However, this particular situation is complicated by the fact that the director is also the actor in the scene, which can blur professional boundaries.
I do not know the full context leading up to this scene or if there were ongoing issues beforehand, which makes this situation even more complex. Regardless of how this matter is resolved and what the outcome of any lawsuits may be, the bottom line remains that sexual harassment is NEVER acceptable. We must respect everyone's feelings and boundaries to ensure no one ever feels uncomfortable or intimidated, whether in the workplace or elsewhere.
