After Trey Lance’s 12 uneven training-camp practices this summer, he was on point Friday: One field-goal drive. One touchdown drive. And a perfect passer rating.
In his first game in his first season as the starter, the preseason opener against the Packers at Levi’s Stadium, the 49ers quarterback capped his crisp two-series outing with a flourish: Lance lofted a 76-yard touchdown pass to rookie wideout Danny Gray.
The score ended Lance’s efficient evening in which he completed 4 of 5 passes for 92 yards and he had a 7-yard scramble.
The best news for the 49ers: Lance emerged unscathed in a game that began with mostly backups taking the field for both teams.
