KINDRED SPIRITS VICTOR NICOLAI x YUTAKA SONE 20 May 6-9pm 21 May 1-5pm @tommysimoensgallery Kindred Spirits is a collaboration between Norwegian artist Victor Nicolai and Japanese artist Yutaka Sone. The project brings together Sone’s Snow Leopard motifs and Nicolai’s approach to wearable design and analogue photography, resulting in two limited edition T-shirts and an oversized dress. Blending sculpture, print, and fashion, Kindred Minds explores intimacy, heritage, and shared artistic sensibilities across generations and disciplines. Victor Nicolai (b.1992) is a multidisciplinary Norwegian artist currently based in Oslo. His practice predominantly focuses on photography and printmaking. He founded Pteron in 2022, a studio at the intersection of art, fashion and design. Yutaka Sone (b.1965) is a multidisciplinary Japanese artist currently based between Tokyo, Antwerp and Merida. His practice encompasses sculpture, performance, and video, often drawing on architecture, landscape, and personal experience. Sone is known for his intricate marble carvings and large-scale installations that blur the boundaries between art and environment.
