I'm posting my #augustreads a day early because I've got a book tour tomorrow for Her Deady Friend by my doppelgänger, Rachel Sargeant. August is almost over and I, for one, am pleased. Goodbye heatwaves, hello autumn. It's my favourite season and I can't wait to cosy up in woolly jumpers and snuggle under blankets. (I'm well aware it won't be for a while yet but go with me on this.) Standouts this month were: 😈 Idle Hands by Cassondra Windwalker (creepy and thought-provoking) ⚖️ Nothing But the Truth by the Secret Barrister (even though I no longer practise law, I still love reading about it, and The Secret Barrister writes in a really accessible way) 🖤 Into the Dark by Fiona Cummins (you can never go wrong with a Cummins thriller, and this was no exception) 🏠 The Family Remains by Lisa Jewell (not pictured, but the sequel to The Family Upstairs, which I enjoyed even more than the original). Review to come. I also read the following library books, not pictured: 🔴 How to Kill Your Best Friend by Lexie Elliott 🟠 The Trial by Laura Bates 🟡 A Whole Island of Friendliness by Nicolás Obregón (audiobook) 🔵 I'm adding Love & Other Dramas by Ronali Collings to this book pile because I forgot to do it last month and it was so good that it deserves to be shouted about.
