It’s our anniversary!!! 5 years ago I was offered an opportunity to host an event at the Jane Hotel Rooftop. I had been wanting to produce an event series called Rum + Pum Pum Shorts that centered on Afro-Caribbean culture through music and dance. I wanted to uplift, unite, and inspire people in my community. It was important to me that the event happen in a beautiful, elevated space because we often have to compromise the beauty of our surroundings to hear the music we love. I asked my friend @i.m.iv who’s been my brother since high school to come play a set with me and without hesitation, he pulled up! I thought it would be exciting if 40 people showed up. To my surprise, hundreds of people came and we had to move the party to the ballroom to accommodate everyone! Since then we’ve partied at some of the most beautiful outdoor venues in NYC and we’ve had thousands of folks come sweat, dance, and vibe with us. We’ve created a whole community and it’s been so beautiful! 🥹🥹🥹 Thank you to everyone who’s come out and shared your positivity with us over the years.
