The fact that most people don’t care about the “how” is the reason why it’s known as one of those things you should cut out in January. If you apply nuance when it comes to buying meat, you don’t need to cut it out in January to save the planet or protect your health – and you don’t need to cut it out at all. If you apply nuance when it comes to buying vegetarian or vegan food, things start to get even more complicated (compare the meat alternative burger with 20+ ingredients to the grass-fed beef steak with just 1, for a start). Sweeping generalisations are not helpful for anyone when it comes to food and our diet. So, for us, this month is all about how to buy meat. But how to buy meat whilst caring for the environment, farmers, animals, and our health. #fieldandflower #howtobuymeat
