“Representation has never been about trying to fit people in a box, or ensuring we have a person from this background or that to tokenize people. This is dehumanizing. It’s what I call DEI Capitalism – where brands use folx from different backgrounds to virtue signal and/or for their bottom lines. Who benefits from this? Who are the decision makers behind the camera? Who are the CEOs and the investors making GAINS from people’s PAIN? ...DEI isn’t just an acronym. My world is diverse. My friendship groups are diverse. The people I work with are diverse. My team is diverse. Naturally my brand is diverse. So when we also hire behind the scenes, of COURSE it looks like the world I live in now. Women photographers, queer representation, BIPOC talents, etc. For this campaign, it was such an honor to work with our community. Whether trans, non-binary, or East Asian models, to the fantastic folx behind-the-scenes, I’m so proud to stand alongside all of them! Beauty beyond the binary isn’t just a tagline – it’s a lifestyle. It’s me. It’s my world. The good light world. And I hope you feel welcomed and seen here. You belong.” - @seoulcialite @goodlight.world To @seoulcialite and the entire team at @goodlight.world, being tapped as a collaborator with you not only on this campaign (#NewMoonBalm), but also in your greater vision of equality and representation, is a huge honor!!
