The best things I ate (with highlights in tomorrow morning’s @latimes column 👀): Roti with caviar (and all the other courses) from the @lafoodbowl LA Times Restaurant of the Year dinner celebrating @anajakthaifood in the Anajak Thai alley. Superb food, tunes and company. Rosa #pizza from @pizzeriabianco. This one is extra special because it was something I used to share with a dear friend who died earlier this year. For the uninitiated, it’s beautifully simple, with crumbled pistachios, onions that sweeten in the oven, Parmigiano Reggiano, good olive oil and rosemary. Thrilled to have the new @pizzeriabiancolosangeles in my hometown. The farinata, also from Pizzeria Bianco. It has a delicate crunch and it’s packed with olives, rosemary and slivers of onion. Moqueca from @woodspoon, a Brazilian seafood stew with cod, prawns, mussels and clams in an addictive coconut sauce. The steak “teriyaki” plate from @hansei_la. This was a magical meal that started in the beautiful garden @jaccc_la. This plate is chef @chris.l.ono ‘s take on a teriyaki combo plate but made with a teriyaki / bordelaise and served with corn pudding. The grilled cheese and tomato soup from @findyourhilltop. This is one of my favorite go-to meals when I need something quick and comforting. The special beef sandwich from @montafactory_glendale. It’s the filling they use for their manti, made into a big patty, served on toasted ciabatta with a tangy pink sauce. Like an excellent burger but lighter and packed with a lot more flavor. Ask to sub pickled onions for the raw 💯. The meatballs from @motherwolfla, eaten twice in one evening (pre and post work event 👀). Pickled deviled eggs with caviar from the new @barclaradtla @hotelperladtla. #latimesfood
