Meet @tobyd1988 who lives in Sydney, Australia. Toby is a paraplegic who used to kart back in 2002/3 when he lived in Newcastle, Australia. Toby got into motorsport after meeting another racer who was also a paraplegic who helped him get involved in motorsport by converting his kart to be driven on hand controls. At the time, Toby didn’t have to have a specific disabled licence to compete but instead had to follow the usual process in order to gain his motorsport licence. In the early 2000s, the @fia_disability_accessibility was yet to be created and social media didn't exist. Toby thinks we have come a long way since then and thinks its great that we are making progress and promoting the accessiblity of the sport. Having already had a disabled driver in @f1 with @robertkubica_real, he’s hopeful that we may see another disabled driver there before too long.
