Since 1958, the Fulton Art Fair has celebrated Black creativity in Brooklyn. Founded by local businesswoman Shirley Hawkins, with inaugural co-chairs Jacob Lawrence and Ernest Crichlow, it’s Brooklyn’s oldest Black visual arts event — and one of the longest continuing Black arts groups in the U.S. The Fair highlights visual, musical, and performing arts, giving artists exposure while connecting the community to the creativity that surrounds them.
