I’m working on a middle grade fantasy book and have it set in the Smoky Mountains, Cades Cove in particular, so @aaronlfairbanks and I camped there this weekend so I could scope it out in person and my goodness, it’s beautiful and serene even in spite of all us humans visiting. The sound of bugs almost makes the air vibrate and wild turkeys, black bears, and elk roam the area (we saw all of those critters from a safe distance — except the turkeys who really wanted to be on the road). The early morning drive around the Cades Cove Loop was especially amazing. I can’t wait to go back.
