Growing up, I always dreamed of becoming a musician. My parents enrolled me in piano lessons at an early age and I immediately fell in love with it. Music was a real escape for me and it brought a lot of happiness and lightness to our home which was burdened by the many challenges of immigration. As a teenager, I joined several bands and was swept away by the romantic call of the rock'n'roll life. My father was always supportive, for which I am grateful to him to this day, as many Asian parents would shun this kind of creative pursuit. During these years, I always felt like I was alone, for I never really met other Asians who shared the same drive. I have rarely seen someone like me get up on stage and express their deepest heartbreak through the cathartic pull of a melody. Today, I am truly proud to say that I have worked with and met the very talented Donavan, aka @visreiii, whose work and passion truly resonate with my own journey. I am grateful to have been able to create a visual world with him and to be able to share it with you today. Thank you @visreiii for your creativity and your vulnerability. MIROIRS is out today!
