📆 The new work "Canyon" by @katharina_grosse will be unveiled to the public from 5 October and will be visible from the different levels of the Fondation. ✨ Canyon is a response to Katharina Grosse’s question "How can a painting appear in a space with no floor and no walls, where air and light flows and energy circulate?" as well as a reference to the characteristics of the canyon – the name given to the very void where the art work is displayed. With its curves and counter curves the work is echoing Frank Gehry's glass facade of the Fondation Louis Vuitton and a close dialogue has been established between the artist and the architect around the use of color in a preexisting building. 👩‍🎨 This installation is a continuation of two new interventions by Katharina Grosse last spring: in Paris, "Splinter" (2022), in the exhibition "La Couleur en Fugue" (May 4 to August 29, 2022) and in Venice, "Apollo, Apollo" (April 23 to November 27), as part of the Fondation's "Hors les Murs" program and the 59th Venice Biennale. . . 🇫🇷 L’œuvre inédite « Canyon » de Katharina Grosse sera dévoilée au public à partir du 5 octobre et sera visible depuis les différents paliers de la Fondation. ✨ Canyon est une réponse à la question que se pose Katharina Grosse, « Comment une peinture peut-elle apparaître dans un espace sans sol ni murs, où l'air et la lumière circulent et où l'énergie est en mouvement ? », ainsi qu'une référence aux caractéristiques du canyon, le nom donné au vide même où l'œuvre d'art est exposée. Avec ses courbes et contre-courbes, l'œuvre fait écho à la façade en verre de la Fondation Louis Vuitton de Frank Gehry, un dialogue étroit s'étant établi entre l'artiste et l'architecte autour de l'utilisation de la couleur dans un bâtiment préexistant. 👩‍🎨 Cette installation s’inscrit dans la continuité des deux interventions inédites de Katharina Grosse au printemps dernier : à Paris, « Splinter » (2022), dans l’exposition « La Couleur en Fugue » (du 4 mai au 29 août 2022) et à Venise, « Apollo, Apollo » (du 23 avril au 27 novembre), dans le cadre de la programmation « Hors les Murs » de la Fondation et de la 59e Biennale de Venise.
