In 1974 the famous South African musician Abdullah Ibrahim (formerly known as Dollar Brand) recorded the jazz song “Mannenberg,” which was an instant hit and later became a notable anti-apartheid anthem. The song is on the album Mannenberg ~ ‘Is Where It’s Happening,’ named after the community of Manenberg.
