Let me ask you a question. When you feel sadness, anxiety, fear — any unpleasant sensation, really — what do you do? What is your first thought, or course of action? Maybe you slam the door in its face and run the other way by distracting, numbing, intoxicating yourself, or disassociating and disconnecting from the present moment. You don't want to feel it, so you try to block it, drown it out, or run from it. What about something happy, joyful, fulfilling, or calming — a pleasant sensation? Do you find yourself clinging to that feeling? Trying to make it last, drag it out, or even improve upon it by "making it better"? Or worse, do you dampen it down, afraid that if you let yourself surrender to the pleasure, it will get taken away? These are all common reactions to emotional stimuli, honey. But at their core, that's all they are... reactions. And rather than helping us endure or enjoy an emotion, they keep us in our comfort zone and get in the way of our growth. We could choose to respond, instead. We could choose to greet our feelings, and rather than fight against them or cling to them, let their current pass through us with ease and grace. Greeting our feelings not only reduces unnecessary suffering for you, but it also expands your capacity to be with discomfort, which is a gift that gives in multitudes, honey. ✨ Next time you're visited by an big emotion, try this✨ And if this kind of practice lights you up inside, join the SAH MethodTM movement healer teacher training today!
