I don't know what the answer is but reckon--or hope--it's complicated. we know a litany of the problems that come with chronic illness and debilitating diseases as well as mental health come from suboptimal preventative and primary care, but the primary care community still yet remain largely unsupported and often drowning to keep up with the needs of too large a community and addressing the sticker shock labs and abnormalities leaving many who aren't 'sick enough yet' left wondering if their fatigue or cbc / LFT abnormalities are concerning and what they could do and learn about it to help being a sticker shocker patient ten years down the line. and by far most of the money in this country goes to specialists managing the decades compounded problems that came from--you guessed it, suboptimal primary care provisions. the solution won't come over night but what we can do is working with our states on policy and funding as well as federally, CMS and others who commendably are making a big push to bring this to attention. how my colleagues in town take such sound and comprehensive care of our community knowing the ever growing odds they have to combat just continually leaves me 🤯
