Handmade ceramic sculptures by my incredibly gifted Grandmother, Patricia Ellis.
Where do I even begin.
Sadly I never got to meet her, but Grandad Brian kept her alive his whole life, and he’d tell me the same stories about her most evenings (I didn’t mind one bit because they would light up and fill the room with his love). At times, well into the night, I’d find him talking to her portrait whilst crying, I’d stand at the door and cry quietly myself.
I spent most of my childhood living with Brian, he was an artist himself, but he gave up painting when Patricia died.
Patricia quite quickly became a sort of star for me, and after seeing my Grandfather talk to her at night from a young age, I would talk to her too - whenever I felt scared, I’d talk to her, imagine her, and I would feel safe.
She was clearly a very cheeky woman too - inspiring - (as you can see from her sculptures!)
I might have to begin a new cheeky series of flirty paintings inspired by my Grandmother’s rather naughty side... 💕
