Happy International Day of the World’s Indigenous People! This year’s theme is the role of indigenous women in the preservation and transmission of traditional knowledge. With this theme in mind, please consider attending our summer speaker series this month. Jacque Tahuka Nuñez, a member of the Juaneño Band of Mission Indians Acjachemen Nation, will be speaking at San Clemente State Beach’s Historic Cottage on Wednesday, August 24th. She has received the Most Outstanding Speaker Award from USC for three years and earned numerous medals for superior accomplishments. Jacque’s interactive storytelling has continued to enlighten us of her peoples’ history and the traditions/practices they hope to carry on into their future.
