Chocolate šŸ’…šŸ» cherry šŸ’…šŸ» almond The most retro. The most fabulous. I’m certain that I saw someone describe cherry almond cake as ā€˜train station cake’ once.. and whoever it was, they’re so right. It’s so easy to picture waiting for trains in the Pumpkin Cafe at Salisbury station, gazing at the loaf of impossibly dry cake studded with radioactively red glacé cherries. I’m sure it was terrible, but I’d be lying if I said childhood Octavia didn’t love it. But childhood Octavia also found Betty Crocker instant cupcake mixes to be the height of gastronomy... ANYWAY. What I mean to say is that I wanted to go all in for the retro factor for these and the result is something really quite camp šŸ’…šŸ» I should add that there is also nothing dry, nor radioactive, about this reinvention. A light sponge made from @lubeca_marzipan , @cacaobarryofficial cocoa, and while I couldn’t not add glacé cherries (not sorry), these were not the bioluminescent kind. All balanced out with some bittersweet 80% @callebautchocolate chips, and a tart cherry glaze to boot.
