What a year it has been. At the start of 2024, I had a feeling that it was going to be a bumpy ride, and I was right. It’s been a time of growing love and crushing grief. But together, we made it. I met my biological mother and family in person for the first time in my life and the joy that reunion has brought me is unquantifiable. To finally hug the woman who brought me into this world was an experience I’ll cherish forever. I love you, Sheila.❤️ But, to see my mother who raised me rapidly decline in health, has been beyond painful. The moments I’ve shared with her this year have been wonderful, from flipping through photo albums to watching her favourite murder mysteries. What an incredible life she’s given me. The love we share is simply magical. I love you, mom. ❤️ Certainly the most difficult moment of this year was saying goodbye to my mother in law. The daughter she raised grew up to be the love of my life. The gratitude I hold for her and the love and kindness she showed me as she welcomed me into her family is something I’ll never forget. Thank you, Sylvie. Rest easy, your daughter is in the best of hands. ❤️ The glue that held me together during these difficult times are the dear people I’m proud to call my friends. A deep and sincere thank you to each and every one of you. You’re the absolute best. I love you guys. All of these happenings haven’t left much time for myself or energy to even think about or running and adventures. Despite the obstacles, I still managed to complete my first adventure race, limped my way across the finish line at Bromont, and continued mentoring some amazing youth. As I look towards 2025, I’m very confident that the tide is about to swing in my favour and push me towards new and exciting horizons. More on that later 😉.
