Opening with “I hate small talk” is like walking up to an attractive person and saying “I hate not having sex”-- it only works if you are wearing a leather motorcycle jacket, soaking from the rain, rumor has it you’re trouble, etc. If rumor doesn’t have it: you’re going to have start small, and earn your way to big talk after trust is established. Be patient, and don’t try to bypass this by going and getting the jacket I just described- that eagerness is very un-jacket, and it will read as such.
