Just saw #TopGun: Maverick - perfection. Teared up three times. Four takeaways: 1) It is one of the few summer popcorn movies since The Sting that is truly worthy of a Best Picture nod. 2) Ed Harris’ brilliance proves the old adage that there’s no such thing as a small role. 3) If the construct of ‘movie star’ still exists, then Tom Cruise is one of the last. 4. I finally realise that I am most fulfilled by a movie when, as the credits roll, my desire to act is reignited as if I’m beginning again.
