Talked to “Funny Pages” director Owen Kline about his Jersey-set feature debut, working with the Safdie brothers, alternative comics artists and why he set and filmed the movie in N.J. — plus adventures in location scouting! You may remember Owen from “The Squid and the Whale” back in 2005 — he’s the son of actors Phoebe Cates and Kevin Kline. “Funny Pages,” Owen Kline’s first feature as a director, follows Robert, a Princeton teen cartoonist and comic book shop employee who decides to leave home and school and head to Trenton. Also reviewed the movie, which is out on VOD today and in select theaters including @theclairidge in Montclair. 🎬✍️*********LINKS IN BIO***********✍️🎬 Photos: A24 @theowenkline @A24 @daniel.zolghadri @gertrudkanning @mattjohnmaher @mariadizzia @joshpais @mtownsendwright56 @andymilonakis @stephenadlyguirgis @johnnyryanjohnnyryan1 @judd_kid @bowedtie @elarapictures @rick_altergott #FunnyPages #nj #film #princeton #trenton #newark #njfilm #movie #comics #cartoonist #cartoonist #director #owenkline #jersey #newjersey #nj #altcomics #undergroundcomics #alternativecomics #comic #comicstrip #comicbooks #comicbook #a24 #safdiebrothers #safdie #cinema #comingofage #comedy #darkcomedy #movies #andymilonakis
