Sanzo has officially landed at 60 @costco clubs in SoCal and Hawaii 🥹
It’s been a while since I’ve spoken about the journey building @drinksanzo … but for those who’ve wanted to know how it’s going, the Van Morrison song “Days Like This” is about as good of an encapsulation as any.
15 months ago, while Sanzo overtook San Pellegrino to become the #5 sparkling water brand at Whole Foods, I learned over 4 consecutive grueling weekends at Costco roadshows that we had to change how we did business if we were going to compete in the big leagues of mass grocery.
Costco members told us we needed to be more flavorful and at more accessible price points, tough things to accomplish in a business with already tight margins, inflating costs and tariffs looming.
So we rebuilt piece by piece. In 2 years, we’ve made Sanzo more accessible to more people, bringing down the price from $2.49-3/can to now <$1/can at Costco, where you can buy us in bulk for the next 8ish weeks.
In many ways, Sanzo is finally becoming the brand I’d dreamt of many years ago, one that earnestly wants to bridge cultures, and not have to burn a massive hole in your wallet to do so.
I know we’ve pissed off a few loyalists of the OG formulation but hope that enough of you come back over time as we continue to improve the flavor.
Or hopefully you can at least appreciate the genuine and good-faithed reasons why we made these changes.
Time will tell how all of these changes will go, but for at least today “when it’s not always raining, there’ll be days like this”
