How do I talk while running? I keep my runs at an easy pace. When I started running in 2013, I was told to keep most of my runs at a "conversation pace." This sounded strange to me as a new runner. All I kept thinking is that I should be aiming to run quicker. When I joined Black Girls Run, they explained the benefits of running slower during some of my training runs. As an endurance athlete tackling road and trail marathons, I've made it a point to not feel weird about moving slow. Some of the best conversations that I had with others came from moving slowly and it's been great for helping my speed ironically. Easy - or conversation - runs are great for establishing consistency. It took me MONTHS to get it right and honestly, sometimes I still suck at it. And if it makes you feel better, I don't make these type of videos on tempo, hill or speed workouts often. If a rare moment occurs, this means that someone else is holding the camera, I am probably not happy and awaiting for someone to take me away into my chariot. I hope this answers that question.
