While everyone was flying drones @burningman , I took part in the Galapagos Art & Science Journey invited by @quoartis foundation. ( big shout out and thank you for taking me ππΌππΌππΌβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ)
In 8 days on the @natgeo Endeavour II, we witnesses wild nature in movement with all forces of the volcanic earth and thousands of animals living together in harmony. A true and rare example of how life on earth must once have been. Our collective idea of Paradise realised in front of us. It was breathtaking, but also fragile. The animals were not afraid to come close, neither they were agressive. It could have been incredible easy to catch them or harm them if we wanted to. Ofcourse this was not our intention at all, but it made me sad to realise how this planet once must have been bursting of beautiful animals, full of health and life. And how we, stupid narcistic bullying humans have taken everything. Literally everything! Simply taken advantage of the curious and playful nature of the animals in their attempt to connect. Lacking respect for ancient gigantic tortoises and just stacking them by thousands in the hold of the ship in order to have fresh food on board. And it was incredibly easy to lighten up an entire city with turtle-oil, because you could just take it with no consequences. And not only here in the Galapagos, but simply everywhere in the world. Every piece of land is littered by human disgust, only taking, giving nothing back, not contributing to the system that has been set up so precisely and grew to this harmony in millions of years. Instead we decided to build our own system, faster, better, bigger, where the fullfillment in life has to come out of competition fed to us through screens and while we loose hours of our precious time, sleep and health by clicking through our frustration, someone is making money off it.
What the hell have we created? The matrix is build, we already live in it for centuries. I have never experienced a bigger gap between our big tech driven economy and this gigantic tortoise slowly selecting a juicy leaf to chew on for the next hour or so. Iβm leaving this place full of love and sadness.
