I tried to experience Michael’s imagination, enter his manic episodes, and view the world through his eyes. I went to places I think he enjoyed, like the viewpoint that overlooks Mount Hood near a house he lived in many years ago. I found several photos of the mountain in the books he gave me. I revisited that viewpoint over and over. And sometimes when I arrived, the mountain had disappeared. But if I lingered for long enough, Mount Hood always emerged again. Todd loves photographing the mountain too. He lived in a tent on Mount Hood for seven months and that re-sparked his love for photography. He hasn't stopped photographing the mountain since.
