"[...] Being there on that night offered a chance to step inside the polymorphic inner world encapsulated in the record. Entering I felt the social walls warp, networked realities of hyper-specificity disintegrating, as the in-wandering audience collectively decalibrated into primordial soup. [...] Visio’s hypnotic four screen video installation on the back wall. The space was dim lit and overpowered by the sound. Verbal and visual communication were compromised, opening dialogue to a kind of kinetic conversation of raw aura oscillating under the same unifying sonic wharf, a tomb/womb, an immersive abyss, a fatal Forever. [...] The audio-visual oracle of VISIO with music by Cobweaver pulled bodies into its orbit, transmitting omens from the back of the room. I was haunted by the way the seemingly dystopian narrative invoked a kind of agitated grace, a renewed sensitivity, rendering users susceptible to the condition of empathy depletion. The way the word “alive” emerges from the track’s rasped prose in enough to communicate all the paradoxes of dis-intimacy and isolation generated by individuated connectivity. Self-hexed cyber orphans, battling to preserve currents of genuine empathic exchange amid a desacralising, fate-eroding, acephalous haste. [...] I found the friction of nervous energy, the video’s thematic of infected intimacy, parasitic augmentation as depletion, both condemning and absolving. [...] Left hanging in the air, the word “alive” still reverberates in my mind. The paradoxical sentiments were unified in the album cover art designed by Katja Novitskova and Kareem Lofty, portraying a lone holographic wolf-ghoul staggering in insatiable search, a gormless vision of misanthropic euphoria. [...] ZULI broke chronos. Relieving us from clockwork dogma.[...].”
