As I prepare my lesson plan for a program I’ve titled “Exploring the World through Texture and Color” specifically serving children on the Autism spectrum I’ve been reflecting on the importance of Art Education. There isn’t much that needs to be said outside of the fact that we are raising a generation that is constantly consuming images, which means we are responsible for training them to observe them critically. We are responsible for providing them with the tools to understand the world around them. We are responsible for reminding them that they have the agency to not only question the world, but us.
