Dennis Kim, Fashion Stylist & Basketball Enthusiast For LA native Dennis Kim, the initial intention was never to be a fashion stylist – In fact, it wasn’t until he accepted the constraints that his degree had offered, that he realized what he wanted to do and where he wanted to be. “While trying to find a stable career, I studied photoshop and began retouching photos and making graphics for photographers. This led to me assisting photographers and producers on set which ultimately led to me getting my first opportunity to style a photo shoot. They say perfect timing is hard work meeting opportunity and in hindsight, this was my perfect timing moment.” Born in Seoul, South Korea Dennis was quickly uprooted and found himself bouncing from city to city with his family for the first decade of his life around America. Through his travels he realized he had an affinity for basketball as well as hip-hop music. While both were outlets for him throughout his youth, he realized his aspirations of being a big name one day were possible by watching the journeys of people in the industry as well as his family members at home that he appreciated start to flourish. “Most importantly, my older sister Vivian, a female Asian American who I grew up with and had the same exact resources as, showed me that it is possible to pursue a creative career. Representation is one of the biggest reasons I even gave my dreams a shot and is extremely significant in inspiring the youth.” @adidasLA continues to support and share the stories of the AAPI community across the country, recognizing the ambitions of these individuals and how they navigated their experiences, ambitions, and journeys to live a life of value and expression.
