Since high school I’ve always wanted to film my own concept video and that dream has finally manifested into reality. When I first idealized the video two years ago, the concept came to me so intuitively that I pitched it to Carina the same day. So much has changed since this video so while I’m excited for it to finally drop, I’m also very nervous. Prior to this, I’d choreograph once every few years and now I’m choreographing for 11 classes a week. I didn’t recognize myself at the end of the video and I wasn’t sure if I was super happy with my own choreo, much less the idea of immortalizing something I wasn’t satisfied with. I suppose the “creator’s cringe” is very real, haha. So many of my relationships have changed whether it’s with those in this video, my relationship with dance, and my relationship with self. At one point, I didn’t even want the video to come out but I suppose everything happens in divine timing. At the end of the day, I’m proud of what I created despite me feeling mixed emotions. This has been a time capsule of sorts and I’m happy to release it into the aether at last. I’m so grateful to have worked on this piece with one of my best friends since high school @carinaguts - truly, a full circle moment. I’m more than blessed to have danced with people I’ve grown up with and truly, deeply care about. Everyone involved worked so hard and put in so much time and energy that I can’t express my endless gratitude and appreciation with words. Thank you for this experience and supporting my ambitions.
