Here’s a not-so-often-shared view of our kitchen ☝🏼 Swipe to see what this same view (slightly different angle) looked like when we bought this house... To bring this 1999 kitchen into the current decade, we demoed the swing-open pantry in lieu of a built-in refrigerator from @cafeappliances and floor to ceiling wood-tone cabinets with slide-out pantry drawers from @cliqstudios. We rebuilt the island into a rectangular shape and designed the countertops to waterfall at the far end, while keeping a 12” overhang on the near end, and we moved the plumbing for the sink and dishwasher into the island so the person prepping or cleaning up after dinner doesn’t have to face the corner while doing so. The overhanging end of our island has become our three-year-old Joe’s favorite seat in the house, as he can watch (and “help”) Jason and I when we’re in the kitchen, but can also see into the adjacent family room where his favorite show or movie is likely on in the background.
