In the summer of 2018, the studio consulted with commercial digital travel platform 'Culture Trip' as they launched their first print publication. Looking to find a balance between corporate travel imagery and something more luxe and bespoke, the studio was brought in to strike that balance through its creative commissioning. The most prominent commission was for young analogue portrait photographer @sophiestafford_ who we sent to Kyrgyzstan to photograph the 'World Nomadic Games', the week long event backed by the countries government was aimed to bolster national identity and strengthen diplomatic friendships. The event itself, saw the largest-ever gathering of nomadic tribes since 1206 under the leadership of Genghis Khan, the legendary Mongol conqueror. With 23 ethonsports featured in the games and over 40 competing countries (and many of their reigning olympic gold athletes), ranging from horseback to traditional Wrestling and mixed martial arts, as well as archery and hawk / eagle racing events. Throughout throughout the event, Stafford worked closely with our Creative Director to creative a truly special portfolio of imagery. Part competitor portraiture, part games reportage, Stafford captured the event in a light no media platform has before or since.
