I didn’t know that in over half of the U.S., it is legal for providers to try and convince young people not to be LGBTQ+. And I didn’t know how incredibly harmful that process can be — that in most cases it leads to substance abuse and self-harm, even suicide. I am grateful to @bornperfect for their work to make me and the filmmaking team aware of this terrifying reality for too many queer and trans kids and the work they do every day to end this harmful practice. I helped tell a fictional story about the horrors of so-called “conversion therapy,” and now I want to support real life survivors telling theirs.
