Twenty one years ago I lost my mother to suicide. Were it a person, this loss would be a fully fledged adult by now. And it kind of is - mature, rounded, settled into itself. The grief and confusion has found a place amongst all the other things that make me who I am. Not defining me, no longer trying to figure out what it’s supposed to be, why it happened, or how it should feel. 21 years ago I never imagined it would ever be this way. And I’m proud of myself. And happy. And sad sometimes too. And accepting that although some things will never make sense, they have a place and are still part of the story. #suicideawareness #suicidelosssurvivor
