In true to form synchronistic fashion, it is my pleasure to submit this “Caves of Lascaux” themed 9’8 @lordbords Pedal Pusher I picked up from the glass shop today, last of all possible entry days, to the @visslasurf #visslaaddcolor contest. You can see me paint this board in my previous post and hear more about my process in that film. It is my intention to make every board I shape a work of art, and for the art to be more than mere surface decoration, but conceptual. I aim to allow the art space to breathe, so that they are eye catching but play nicely in the lineup and don’t detract from the visual experience of other surfers by causing an eyesore. My true audience though, is our great ally the dolphin, for whom I painted the bottom of this board (and all boards) to share with them some of the beauty of human culture— not just our crowds and pollution. Again, this is just one of my stock offerings available today at Traveler Surf Club Ventura. Materials are acrylic and spray paint with a solid color tint to show off the cleanliness of the shape. As always, handshaped and painted by me, Rachel Lord, here in Ventura, CA. Post 2 of 2 for this entry. #visslaaddcolor #cavesoflascaux #lordbords
