For the jackets in our Fall-Winter ’22 ‘Tears of An Olive Branch’ Collection we’ve incorporated olive wood beads, made in a workshop in Ramallah in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Millions of olive trees have been confiscated, uprooted and appropriated as a result of the war in 1948. Palestinian farmers who still retain access to their groves are limited by the construction of the Israeli West Bank barrier, special permits from the army and civil administration are required for them to prune and harvest their trees. For years now, those farmers also confront violent attacks on them and their crops by illegal Jewish settlers.
We first used the olive wood beads in our Spring-Summer '19 "Area A" collection, with the intention to adress the restrictions that are imposed on the freedom of movement of Palestinians, between the three zones of occupied Palestine.
As the olive harvest season approaches, our latest collection wishes to once again shed light on the systemic injustices and crimes committed daily against humans and nature.
