This weekend I got served Tea by the dearest beautiful tea sister from Hong Kong. I rarely get to be served. NEVER maybe is the more right word? It feels closer to the truth :) And oh..... it blew my mind. It was THE CEREMONY where all the elements came together in Harmony. Everything was perfect. The details, textures, colours, music - were felt with my whole being, my whole body. It was a transformation. A Homecoming. I thought I would explode from Gratitude for this opportunity to be served in such a way. It was a reminder of why I do what I do. Because I have to say it feels completely different on the receiving side (and I never receive). And I forgot. So it ignited and revived this deep inner memory of what it is to be in ceremony on a receiving side. One can just relax and be fully there - becoming intimate with the space, with the Tea, with the host, taking in all the details of this beautiful magical life manifesting itself through the beauty of the Tea Ceremony. Truly nowhere to go and nothing to do. There is something inherently powerful when you just sit, DO NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING, and RECEIVE. Not in a disconnected way but the opposite, be fully present for life that is happening around you. There is so much happening in the tea ceremony yet you do absolutely nothing. Just receive. And that is the dance of the feminine and masculine together. When I serve it is a beautiful process, yet it is a very different one. And JUST TEA is ENOUGH. Nothing needs to be added. It is complete in itself. Everything is contained within it. Becoming so present, that you become one with the space, or you become THE SPACE. That formless, spacious, full awareness. Tea engages all the senses and it is an incredible embodiment practice. Connecting to the alive embodied presence that we are. She connects us to BEAUTY. And Beauty connects us to Life. It is so simple, so clear. But that simplicity is deceptive. I am in deep gratitude to Deb.
