Our memories of Queen Elizabeth II will forever be about this moment. When AK was asked to dress Lady Gaga to meet The Queen we never anticipated the reaction it would receive. Not only the major worldwide news story it became but especially the happiness which seems to be there in the personal moment between these two remarkable women. It will always be such a thrill that The Queen seemed to enjoy Gaga’s presence dressed head to toe in red latex. Stylist @nicolaformichetti assisted at the time by @annatrevelyan had asked Atsuko to design a Victorian style dress which Atsuko duly sketched. In the process she added the Elizabethan style ruff which meant that Gaga’s look reflected the two previous most iconic Queens of England - Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria. So that when Gaga met Elizabeth II the resultant image carried elements of all of the most noted Queens but of course was completely of it’s time - the year being 2009. In 2012 - the year of The Queen’s Golden Jubilee the monarch held an exhibition in Windsor Castle of 60 favourite photographs, one for each year of her reign.
