How do identity, belonging, and migration shape visual practice? Please join us at @icp 12 PM on February 21 for A Lens on Diaspora, a photography salon presented by @WardGallerynyc and @the.roadtonowhere , focused on image-makers from the diaspora. Presenting lens-based work from four diaspora artists, the salon reflects on communities across borders, inherited histories, hybrid identities, and the idea of home as something remembered, imagined, or constantly renegotiated, while creating space to share personal and collective narratives that challenge fixed notions of place and nationality. The program will feature presentations by: * Emily May Jampel (@emilymayjampel), A filmmaker born and raised in Honolulu and based in Brooklyn, whose work has screened internationally and whose viral short film Lucky Fish premiered on NOWNESS Asia. * Wafaa Bilal (@wafaabilal), an Iraqi-born, internationally recognized artist known for online performative and interactive works examining international and interpersonal politics. * Jalan and Jibril Durimel (@durimel), Twin filmmakers based in New York whose work reflects their French-Caribbean heritage and experiences across Paris, Guadeloupe, Miami, and St.Maarten * Camila Falquez (@camilafalquez), is a New York-based photographer of Colombian heritage, born in Mexico City and raised in Spain. Her work merges the traditions of fashion and portrait photography with a keen focus on contemporary social and gender diversity. By channeling surrealist conventions and employing a bold color palette, Falquez elevates and empowers her subjects, reimagining their presence through a unique visual language. special thanks to @icp @the.roadtonowhere @dalia.aldu and @marleytriggstewart for having us on this project and all the artists involved it has been a labor of love working on this project <3
